Student Leadership

Students do not have to be School Captains or House Captains to be considered leaders. Here at South Coogee Public School, we encourage our students to be leaders in the classroom and playground, through their support for other students, or their involvement in academic, sporting, cultural or community events and projects.

Children from Kindergarten to Year 6 have the opportunity to take on leadership roles throughout the year. Each class elect two Class Captains each semester and two Eco Warriors every term.

Together, with the School Captains and Year 6 Leaders, the Class Captains form the combined group of the School Representative Council (SRC), as members of the school leadership team.  The school’s SRC meet regularly throughout the year, holding fundraising events for charity and allowing students a platform to advise on student suggestions for improving the quality of school life.

The Captains and Year 6 Leaders have the responsibility of representing the school at formal events, leading assemblies and assisting in the convening of the Student Representative Council (SRC)

Other Leadership opportunities that exist for students include Library Monitors; Techsperts; Peer Support leaders; and Buddies (Year 4).
