COMPASS is a school based program for Stage 2 students (Year 3 and 4) focusing on an enrichment style program, providing experiences beyond the normal curriculum, intended to extend students.
With a focus on Mathematics and Writing, the enrichment style program provides experiences intended to extend students’ opportunities to discover, explore and extend students through working with peers of similar intellectual abilities in a stimulating environment. The program is designed for students whose actual performance is consistently in the top range of their grade for a particular subject area and would benefit from extension.
Students are chosen based on their academic performance as assessed and reported by teachers. Teacher judgement as to the potential of students is also used to establish suitability for the inclusion of a student in the COMPASS program.
